Amid frequent disruptions in mobile communication and the internet, residents of the capital of Russia have begun to show interest in alternative means of communication, such as walkie-talkies and pagers. This was reported by the publication Meduza.

According to data from Google Trends, there has been a significant increase in the number of queries related to walkie-talkies and wired internet. The peak interest in walkie-talkies among Muscovites occurred on March 10, when a substantial increase in complaints about mobile networks and the internet was recorded. On the same day, residents actively sought information about wired internet, whereas similar queries were not observed the day before.

Analysis of sales on the Wildberries platform also confirms the growing interest in pagers, walkie-talkies, and landline phones. From March 6 to March 10, compared to the same dates in February, sales of walkie-talkies increased by 27%, pagers by 73%, and landline phones by 25%.

However, experts emphasize that there is no paging infrastructure in Moscow, making the use of such devices impossible.

Additionally, there is a growing demand for MP3 players. As reported by Baza, this is related to new amendments that came into effect on March 1, concerning the prohibition of drug propaganda. As a result, edited versions of works have appeared on streaming platforms, and some songs and albums have been removed. Experts believe that the increased popularity of MP3 players is also linked to mobile internet outages, which make the use of streaming services impossible.
