Baktygul Dyikanbaeva, a teacher from the village of Chon Kyzyl-Suu, located in the Orgochor rural district of the Jeti-Oguz region of the Issyk-Kul province, shared a unique story about the creation of a local museum.

Dyikanbaeva works at a school and actively participates in the cultural life of her village.

The village is situated in picturesque mountains, just seven kilometers from the main settlement — Kyzyl-Suu, which has about a thousand residents. In 1998, to preserve historical memory for future generations, a museum exhibition was established. “We collected exhibits covering the period from the Stone Age to the Soviet era and the war years. The main goal is to preserve the heritage of our ancestors and use it to educate the youth. Each section of the museum has its own title, such as ‘Descendants Honor the Heritage of Ancestors’ and ‘Numismatics’,” she explains.

The village is mainly populated by members of the "döölös" clan, so the museum reflects its history, origin, and name. One of the exhibits is jade — a precious green stone that can be found in this region.

Once, in the village of Tilekmat, there stood the mausoleum of Jet-Ake, known to many families in Issyk-Kul as Sadyr Ake, Kydyr Ake, Moyt Ake, Karga Ake, Sart Ake, Tilekmat Ake, and Karach Ake. This mausoleum was dismantled by a local resident named Kotserev, who used the stones to build a furnace for his family. He had many children, but, as local residents recount, tragically all of them died. In those times, people said that the elders were holy and that their memory should be cherished; it was considered a punishment from the Almighty,” added Baktygul.

The museum houses many valuable historical items. Initially, the ancestors used hand mills, and later stone mills called chapma appeared. “We also have a radio from the Soviet era and the first models of televisions,” she specified.

Local residents and tourists who come to the village visit the museum with interest. The nearby kindergarten building is also a historical structure, and we strive to preserve it. In total, the museum features over 400 exhibits,” emphasized Baktygul.
