The champion of Kyrgyzstan in sambo, 34-year-old Bediarbek Kadyrbek uulu received the title of "Baatyr" from his native Jalal-Abad region.

Turmush correspondent met with Bediarbek, who had the honor of delivering water from the region to the World Nomad Games.

Bediarbek was chosen from twenty candidates. He serves in the separate special forces company "Shumkar" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, located in the city of Manas.

Sports are an important part of his life: in 2021, he won the title of champion of Kyrgyzstan in sambo.

Originally from the village of Zhany-Dyikan in the Suzak district, Bediarbek began his service in "Shumkar" in 2018. "Since childhood, I dreamed of serving in law enforcement. Since I have always been close to sports, it was easy for me to adapt. Physical fitness is crucial in our work. Many colleagues in our department are involved in sports and defend the honor of the country. The leadership always supports us," Bediarbek shares.

Bediarbek's candidacy for the Nomad Games was proposed jointly by the administration of the Suzak district and the regiment's command. "I submitted all the documents and came for an interview, where there were 19 other athletes, most of whom were well-known. But in the end, I was chosen. The main criterion for selection was physical fitness, so I combine work with intensive training. My family was very happy about this news," he recounts.

In Bediarbek's family, he is the youngest of five children. He is currently the head of the family and is raising two daughters.



Turmush previously reported that as part of the cultural project "Birimdik Kerbeni" ("Caravan of Unity"), Bediarbek is to deliver sacred water from the spring at the mausoleum of the prophet Idyrys in the Chatkal district to the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Bediarbek's height is 202 cm.

In 2021, he became the champion of Kyrgyzstan in sambo, as well as a prizewinner of the Gordeev tournament and a medalist of the Ministry of Internal Affairs championship of Kyrgyzstan in 2023.

The working group determined that the water source will be an underground spring at the mausoleum of the prophet Idyrys in Chatkal. The ceremony for collecting water in a special vessel called "kökör" is scheduled for June 10–15.

"The Caravan of Unity" is a national relay symbolizing the value of life and the unity of the people of Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the World Nomad Games. Until June 2026, the selection of "baatyrs," ambassadors of the project, and iconic water sources continues in various regions.

In June 2026, the main "baatyr" of the country will ascend to the glaciers of Peak Khan-Tengri to fill the "kökör" with meltwater. At this time, solemn ceremonies for filling regional vessels will also take place in other areas.

By August 15, 2026, "baatyrs" from all seven regions will deliver vessels with water to Bishkek, where a main storage site will be created, open to visitors.

On August 31, 2026, the day of the opening of the VI World Nomad Games, a ceremonial caravan will head to the capital's stadium.

According to the organizers, during the opening ceremony, water from all regions of Kyrgyzstan will be combined with water brought by delegations from participating countries. This ritual will symbolize unity, harmony, and respect among the peoples of the world.
