According to information from the city authorities, the park requires serious updates. It was stated that the recreational area should be comfortable, well-maintained, and spacious, not cluttered with unnecessary commercial structures.
During an inspection of the park's condition, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev negatively assessed the current situation. “This should be Navoi Park, not a market. We essentially have a 'Navoi bazaar' here. All outdated trading points must be removed. Our goal is to restore order: update the facilities, make them modern, and install new comfortable benches. The park must fulfill its primary function. All old and potentially dangerous attractions will be dismantled — we will leave only safe and modern structures. A quiet and cozy place for walks needs to be created here. It is also necessary to engage in landscaping by planting new trees: plane trees, poplars, and black locusts,” he noted.
Alisher Navoi Park is considered the oldest and most popular park in Osh. It is located in the city center along the banks of the Ak-Buura River.
By January 2026, the park is actively expanding, utilizing areas previously occupied by the market. In 2025, the first phase of a large-scale reconstruction was completed here.
New green zones are being created on the site of abandoned structures, such as "Palvan-Saray." One of the main attractions of the park has long been a real Yak-40 airplane.
The park features a Ferris wheel, which offers a picturesque view of Sulayman-Too. For the youth, a modern skate park and workout areas were opened in 2025.
New pedestrian paths with modern lighting have been laid along the embankment. In December 2025, a monument to the poet Alisher Navoi was installed in the park area.
The park has become a favorite place for local residents to relax due to the presence of mature trees and shade. There are also many cafes offering traditional shashlik.
In 2026, the completion of the improvement of the riverbank is planned, as well as the creation of special zones for table tennis and chess enthusiasts.
