According to him, as part of the first phase of the "Safe City" project, which began in 2019, 110 complexes for recording traffic violations have already been installed in Bishkek and the Chui region.
“The second phase of the program's implementation includes the installation of 306 new points throughout the republic in 2026. Currently, equipment is actively functioning at the intersection of Akhunbaeva and Toktonalieva streets, as well as Botalieva and Molodaya Gvardiya. These complexes record serious violations, such as driving into oncoming traffic. Additionally, on Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue, the "Uragan" complexes are monitoring speed and the presence of seat belts among drivers. Our goal is to develop a system and implement new methods for recording violations to reduce the number of traffic accidents,” noted Rahim Sasaza.
The inspector added that the main problem lies in speeding violations. Within the city, the maximum speed is 60 kilometers per hour; outside the city, it is 90. The lack of highways in the country limits the possibility of setting a permitted speed of 110 kilometers per hour.
It is also worth noting that a system for monitoring average speed on roads is being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov reported that testing of this system is taking place on the Bishkek — Tokmok road, where special cameras have been installed.
The main task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to check the effectiveness of the new mechanism, which takes into account compliance with the speed limit throughout the entire control section, not just at the moment of passing by the cameras. This is aimed at reducing accidents and saving human lives.
