According to Bloomberg, the United States has officially withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement. This decision became effective on January 27, coinciding with the anniversary of the notification sent by Donald Trump's administration to the UN.

It is worth noting that the order to withdraw from this agreement was signed by Trump on the day of his inauguration in January 2025.

The goal of the Paris Agreement is to reduce global warming and prevent the most serious consequences of climate change.

Refusing to participate in the agreement means that the U.S. will not fulfill its commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the American side is ceasing its participation in international climate forums. This could also negatively impact funding for programs aimed at helping the least developed countries adapt to climate change and protect against its effects.

According to data, the U.S. ranks second in the world in greenhouse gas emissions, surpassed only by China. The UN warns that if the current climate policy remains unchanged, by the end of the 21st century, the average global temperature could rise by approximately 2.8 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels. The U.S. withdrawal from the agreement could increase this figure by 0.1 degrees.

This is already the second instance of the U.S. withdrawing from the Paris Agreement under Trump; during his first presidential term, the country also left this treaty, but under Joe Biden, it rejoined.

Furthermore, Trump previously signed a document to cease participation and funding for 66 international organizations, as well as officially withdrew the U.S. from the World Health Organization.
