A deputy called on the EU to stop the pressure
Thierry Mariani, a member of the European Parliament from France, called on the European Union to cease pressure on Kyrgyzstan and to start a productive dialogue. He noted that Bishkek demonstrates stability even in difficult conditions and remains open to international observers.
Mariani also emphasized that President Sadyr Japarov enjoys a high level of trust among the population, which could provoke envy among European leaders. He highlighted Japarov's successes in stabilizing state institutions and combating organized crime.
The French politician urged his colleagues to "extend a helping hand" to Bishkek instead of imposing conditions. He warned that underestimating Kyrgyzstan's relations with Russia and its unique historical path is a geopolitical mistake that could negatively affect interactions with Central Asia.
