At the meeting of the committee on agricultural issues of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev reported on the stable epizootic situation in Kyrgyzstan, despite cases of foot-and-mouth disease.

Torobaev noted that special headquarters have been established in each region of the country and control has been intensified, including monitoring at the borders.

Deputy Ilimbek Kubanychbekov pointed out that due to the identified cases of foot-and-mouth disease in countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus, they decided to temporarily suspend the export of livestock. In response to these restrictions, entrepreneurs are seeking ways to re-export livestock from China to Uzbekistan; however, existing transit channels are closed, which raises concerns for the parliamentarian.

Head of the Veterinary Service Adilet Sotvaldiyev clarified that the situation with foot-and-mouth disease in China remains extremely tense, and Kyrgyzstan cannot accept livestock from this country in accordance with the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union.

In conclusion, Bakyt Torobaev emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic is not ready to risk the health of its citizens and the state of livestock farming for the sake of minor profit.
