The President instructed to analyze the current legislation in this area
Today, President Sadyr Japarov met with the relatives of those who have been detained or convicted for crimes related to the illegal drug trade. This information was provided by the administration of the head of state.
During the meeting, the relatives appealed to the president with a request to consider the possibility of transferring the detainees from custody to house arrest, as well as to mitigate the punishments for the convicted. They also raised the issue of the need to amend the legislation to humanize it.
Sadyr Japarov listened to the citizens' opinions, emphasizing that these issues require the state's attention. The president also noted that drug-related crimes pose a serious threat to public health, public safety, and the future of the country.
According to the relatives, among the detainees are many young people, but there are also more mature citizens. All of them had no prior criminal charges and were detained for the first time. Some of them were caught with small amounts of prohibited substances.
The head of state noted that he could consider the possibility of pardoning those who committed a crime for the first time, provided there are appropriate grounds and adherence to the established legal procedures. For this, relatives need to submit an official request, which will be reviewed according to the rules.
As a result of the meeting, the president emphasized the importance of strengthening preventive work and educational activities among young people, as well as improving the effectiveness of cooperation among state bodies in combating threats related to drug trafficking.
In addition, Sadyr Japarov instructed the relevant departments of the presidential administration to analyze the current legislation in the field of drug control.
