The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has approved a new Law "On Counteracting Corruption," which is aimed at preventing corrupt actions and managing risks associated with corruption. This document, which was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh, comes into effect and plays an important role in reforming the country's anti-corruption system.
According to information from the Prosecutor General's Office, the law introduces mechanisms for analyzing corruption risks, strengthens preventive measures, and includes the digitalization of the accounting of offenses. It also provides for anti-corruption expertise for regulatory legal acts and the creation of interdepartmental coordination councils under the prosecutor's office.
This law is a practical continuation of the presidential decree No. 137, which was signed on June 5, 2024. It concerns the "State Strategy for Counteracting Corruption in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025–2030" and aims at systematically reducing corruption risks.
As part of the implementation of new legislative and institutional initiatives, the Prosecutor General's Office is enhancing cooperation with international partners to improve the effectiveness of the state anti-corruption policy.
Thus, on February 18, a meeting was held at the Prosecutor General's Office with the head of the Asian Development Bank mission in Kyrgyzstan, Hanif Rahmatulla. Issues of support for anti-corruption reforms, strengthening the institutional capacity of the prosecutor's office, and implementing modern preventive mechanisms were discussed.
All participants in the meeting expressed their readiness to expand cooperation for the successful implementation of the national anti-corruption strategy.
