Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Nikolai Valuev commented on a video that is actively circulating on social networks in Central Asia, in which he is attributed with a call to apply a "carrot and stick" policy towards the countries of the region. This video has sparked significant public response, however, many users have doubted its authenticity and suspected that it is a well-edited deepfake.
Today, Valuev himself confirmed these suspicions. In his Telegram channel, he noted that the internet has become not only a source of useful information but also potential threats.
“Information presented in a certain context with the corresponding video always targets the perception of ears and eyes. In the modern world, it is possible to create films without the involvement of real people, and this is accessible to almost everyone. However, inexperienced users remain the majority, and it is for them that such manipulations are created. This video has nothing to do with me. I am pleased that technology is developing at such a pace, and this video was made using artificial intelligence. I regularly raise the issue of AI and the creation of fake videos,” he emphasized.
Valuev also pointed out that such technologies are now at the disposal of entire countries and are constantly improving.
“One should not be too suggestible. Remember that the loudest cries come from those caught in theft. Therefore, it is best to think twice and realize what has appeared on the internet before reposting. It is especially important to be cautious with unverified sources. I wish you strength and wisdom!” added Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Nikolai Valuev.
