According to information, Saif al-Islam came under fire from unknown attackers who broke into his residence in the city of Zintan, located about 160 kilometers southwest of Tripoli. It is reported that he was shot during a "direct confrontation" with four armed men.
A consultant to Gaddafi Jr. told Libyan television that the criminals disabled the surveillance systems before committing the murder. This was confirmed by the family's lawyer, Marcel Chekhaldi.
According to local media, the attack occurred in the garden next to Gaddafi's house, which led to his fatal injury.
Saif al-Islam, being the second son of Muammar Gaddafi, was among the most influential figures in Libya during his father's rule, although he did not hold any official positions. He was actively involved in shaping the country's foreign policy and acted as a mediator in important diplomatic matters, as reported by the BBC.
