On February 12, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that the employees of this agency are subordinate to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the country.

In the SCNS, it was noted that in light of the recent resignation of the head of the organization, there have been attempts by several interested parties to discredit the work of national security agencies in the public space.

According to the agency, “the statements and their interpretations being spread are one-sided and aimed at undermining citizens' trust in state institutions.”

Furthermore, the press service emphasized that the activities of national security agencies are carried out in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of the country, “based on the principles of legality, objectivity, and accountability to society.”

The SCNS highlighted that their main priority is to ensure the security of the state, protect constitutional order, the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as counter terrorism, extremism, corruption, and other threats.

“We are confident that any questions and doubts should be resolved exclusively within the legal framework, based on verified information and facts. Attempts to undermine the reputation of state structures without presenting evidence harm not only the specific agency but also the overall level of trust in society,” the SCNS stated.

The agency called on the public, media, and high-ranking officials to be cautious in their statements and to avoid harsh criticism of SCNS employees.

“Employees work diligently and with high responsibility, fulfilling their duties. The work to ensure the security of the country will continue consistently and fundamentally in the interests of the people and the state,” the press service assured.
