“I am from the police.” A fake officer demanding money was detained in the city of Osh
In the city of Osh, a man was detained who, under the pretext of working in the police, extorted money from citizens. This was reported by the press service of the local internal affairs department.

According to investigative authorities, officers from the criminal investigation department of the Osh city police conducted a series of operational activities, as a result of which they identified and detained the suspect. He posed as a police officer and threatened residents with arrest, demanding money.

According to the case materials, on February 2, 2026, around 8:00 PM, a temporary resident of Osh was summoned to the "Deluxe" hotel. Upon arrival, he was met by an unknown individual who, posing as a member of the "Morality" unit, did not show a service ID and demanded 15,000 soms. Threatening with arrest for a period of 3 to 5 days and applying psychological pressure, he forced the man to hand over the money. Moreover, the suspect insisted that the victim transfer him 10,000 soms weekly.



Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding this incident under Article 208, Part 2, Clause 2 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Another similar case occurred on the night of January 31 to February 1 at 12:16 AM on A. Shakirov Street. The suspect, introducing himself as Ruslan and also as a police officer, demanded 20,000 soms from a 33-year-old citizen A. uulu J., threatening with detention. Lacking the money, the victim was unable to meet the demands of the criminal, who ultimately snatched his wallet and stole 7,700 soms, also demanding that he find the missing amount.

In this case, criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 206, Part 3, Clause 3 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the conducted activities, a 30-year-old resident of the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, who already had previous convictions, was detained. He has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Osh city police. According to preliminary data, the crimes were committed by intimidating citizens under the pretext of belonging to law enforcement agencies.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Osh city police department urges citizens to be vigilant. If approached by individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers demanding money, it is necessary to request a service ID and immediately report this by calling 102.
