In the Sokuluk district, a rare bird — the white-tailed eagle — has been found dead. The body of the deceased predator was discovered on the morning of February 16 near a water body located not far from the village of Ozyornoye. This information was provided by ornithologist Gulbara Omorova, reports Turmush.

The first person to notice the dead bird was birdwatcher Azamat Khasenov. He immediately reported the find to the specialized group ASBK Ornithology.

This incident raises serious concerns among scientists. Experts note that a live pair of eagles was spotted in the area the day before, which had begun incubation. “We were there yesterday and saw live birds. We observed a pair that was preparing for nesting. Nothing foreshadowed trouble, but now even an inspection protocol has not been drawn up, and the cause of death remains unknown,” emphasizes Omorova.

Ornithologists point out that the white-tailed eagle is listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan and is considered a rare, declining species. Previously, these birds were perceived as migratory, but last year, a pair began nesting for the first time on the supports of power lines, which attracted the attention of specialists.

Experts are demanding an immediate examination to determine the causes of the predator's death — whether it could have died from an electric shock, poisoning, or other factors. Ornithologists warn that the lack of an official report and intervention from the relevant services of the Ministry of Natural Resources could lead to the issue being ignored, which is unacceptable for the conservation of this endangered species. Meanwhile, another individual of the eagle has been successfully operated on at the rehabilitation center, but the current incident poses a threat to the local population.
