The suspect already had previous convictions and was on record
As a result of operational actions by the capital's law enforcement, a man suspected of committing pickpocketing on public transport, specifically on bus line No. 135, was detained. This information was provided by the Main Internal Affairs Department.
A citizen, J.I., filed a report with the Internal Affairs Department of the Lenin District, stating that her mobile phone had been stolen.
On February 5, 2026, at around 5:30 PM, she boarded bus No. 135 at the Osh market and discovered that her device — an iPhone 16 Pro — was missing on Lavanovsky Street.
Based on this incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 205 ("Theft") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the operational-search activities, the suspect A.A. was detained, who has several previous convictions and is listed as a pickpocket. He was taken to the investigative department of the Lenin District Internal Affairs, and in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, he was placed in a temporary detention facility in Bishkek.
The investigation revealed that the suspect was selling stolen phones in the Osh market area. During a search, more than 60 mobile devices were found in his possession, including the complainant's phone.
The court in the Lenin District of Bishkek has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of two months of detention in custody in SIZO-1.
Law enforcement agencies urge citizens to be vigilant and keep an eye on their personal belongings in public places.
