In Bishkek, employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) closed a rehabilitation center called "Path to Life." This institution masqueraded as a clinic for treating addictions, but in practice, it turned into a place where patients were brutally abused, as reported by the agency's press service.
Investigative actions revealed that laws were systematically violated at the center. The so-called "doctors" were individuals who had previously been addicted to drugs and lacked the necessary medical education and licenses. Instead of qualified assistance, they employed so-called "pseudo-psychiatric" methods.
Extremely cruel measures were used to "subdue" the patients:

Moreover, the center completely ignored basic medical safety rules. Patients with severe infections, such as HIV, tuberculosis, syphilis, and hepatitis, were housed in common areas with others, creating a high risk of mass infection.
The cost of a month's "rehabilitation" reached 80,000 soms or more. Relatives were unaware of the methods actually used against their loved ones. During searches, law enforcement discovered material evidence indicating the involvement of current medical professionals in the case.

Eight suspects were placed in the temporary detention center of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD) of the capital.
- The GKNB urges anyone who has suffered from the actions of the mentioned individuals to contact the duty service of the state committee in the Chui region at: 0312530301.
