The former head of the State Tax Service (GNS) and his deputy compensated the state for damages amounting to 4 billion 307 million soms, as reported by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the GKNB, A.A.K. and K.I.N. were detained on December 6, 2024, as part of a criminal case initiated under Article 337, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning abuse of office. These crimes were committed before the legislation was amended to tighten penalties for corruption and official crimes.
Thus, these individuals were convicted under the version of the Criminal Code in effect at the time the crime was committed, which allowed for a fine to be imposed upon admission of guilt and the conclusion of a procedural agreement on admission of guilt with compensation for damages to the state.
It should be noted that during the investigation, the accused fully admitted their guilt and compensated for damages amounting to 4 billion 307 million soms.
The collected confessions, as well as the investigative actions taken, revealed a persistent corruption scheme within the tax service, involving employees of the Central Office's Audit Department of the GNS and the mentioned officials.
Furthermore, the results of the GKNB's work, including the dismantling of the corruption scheme, not only helped fully achieve the tax and insurance contribution collection plan for 2025 but also increased revenues by 40 billion soms compared to the planned amounts.
Currently, the investigation into other individuals involved in this criminal case is ongoing.
Recall that earlier, Altynbek Abduvapov, the former chairman of the GNS, and his deputy Islambek Kydyrgychov received a sentence in the Lenin District Court.
