The State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (GKNB KR) is conducting an investigation into a criminal case concerning instances of serious harm to health and abuse of official powers by employees of the police in the Uzgen district.
According to the investigation, on January 3, 2026, employees of the Uzgen Police Department, taking advantage of their official position, unlawfully detained two men. They were taken to the Kurshab village police station (POM) without the necessary procedural documents. During further actions, physical violence was applied to the detainees, resulting in one of them sustaining serious injuries. The victim was diagnosed with a severe closed traumatic brain injury, contusion, and cerebral edema.
As part of the criminal case, which concerns crimes stipulated by Articles 130 Part 3 Item 2 and 338 Part 2 Item 4 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, police officers S. K., I. K., and A. A. have been detained. They are being held in the temporary detention facility (IVS) of the GKNB KR. Currently, investigative actions are ongoing.
The GKNB KR appeals to citizens to report any instances of abuse of official powers and other offenses by law enforcement officers.
