On January 19, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported the discovery of illegal activities at the rehabilitation center "Path to Life" in Bishkek.

This center, which positioned itself as a private medical-psychiatric institution, was engaged in the treatment of individuals with various addictions.

The investigation established that most of the center's staff were former addicts without medical education. Under the direction of the management, they conducted so-called "pseudo-psychiatric" procedures and conversations with patients.

The SCNS noted that during acute psychological crises, when patients experienced "breakdowns," cruel and degrading methods of intervention were employed. Physical force and special means, such as beds with restraining straps, batons, electric shock devices, and gags, were used for "subduing," resulting in physical injuries and serious psychological damage.

Uncontrollable patients were placed in isolation cells that completely excluded contact with the outside world—windows were boarded up and darkened. In such conditions, they were deprived of the ability to use the toilet and maintain personal hygiene, forced to wear diapers and left in these conditions for up to a week.

The investigation also revealed that the center's activities generated significant income for its owners: the "rehabilitation" of one patient cost from 80,000 soms per month. Relatives of patients often were unaware of the illegal and cruel "treatment" methods employed at the institution.

Furthermore, the center did not adhere to the principles of separating patients with various infectious and venereal diseases, such as HIV, tuberculosis, and others. All patients were placed in shared conditions, creating a risk of disease transmission.

During the investigation, physical evidence was collected, and several individuals were detained at the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs, including I.R.K., M.Dzh.N., E.A.V., M.I.M., M.V.A., T.Ch.A., K.K.I., and Kh.S.V.

The SCNS urges anyone who has been a victim of the actions of the detained individuals to contact the duty unit of the SCNS of the Chui region at the phone number 0 (312) 53-03-01.

Please note that the video and photos contain scenes of violence and cruelty.
