Death of an Infant in the Uzgen District: Police Appointed an Examination

In Uzgen, an investigation has been initiated regarding the death of a two-month-old infant. This was reported by the Osh Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

According to available information, on January 21, the Uzgen District Internal Affairs Department received information from the territorial hospital that the infant, born on November 11, 2025, had died due to anemia. A fact has been registered in this case, and as part of the preliminary investigation, witnesses have been interviewed.

“An examination has been appointed to determine the cause of the infant's death. Based on its results, a corresponding decision will be made,” the police representatives stated.

It was previously reported that the cause of the child's death could have been hijama (bloodletting). Upon admission to the medical facility, doctors recorded a sharp decrease in the infant's hemoglobin level to 43, as well as significant blood loss.

In Kyrgyzstan, there have already been cases of health deterioration and even fatalities following hijama procedures.

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has repeatedly urged the population to avoid using the hijama method. The department emphasizes that this method is not licensed as a medical procedure and warns of the risks of infection transmission through blood.
