59-year-old Rinat Ümötaliev, residing in the village of Dolon in the Tyup district, has been managing a fish farm for five years.

In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that he has dedicated over 30 years of his life to teaching.

Rinat explains that he chose the path of a teacher, following in his father's footsteps.

“I was born in 1966 into a family of nine children, and I am the youngest among my brothers. My father was the director of the local school for 29 years, which was later named in his honor. My childhood was spent in Dolon. After finishing school, I enrolled in the pedagogical department in Bishkek, where I received a degree in physical education. I worked for 15 years in Tokmok and Bishkek, and also served in the Ministry of Education. Then I returned to my native village to help my parents and got a job at a school where I taught physical education and pre-conscription training. Closer to retirement, I decided to change my profession and develop the tourism sector in my village,” he noted.

In the summer, Rinat breeds fish in a pond, and in the winter, he creates conditions for local residents to relax. In 2026, he plans to open a 200-meter sledding track and is currently conducting initial experiments.

“I have been renting a pond that belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture for about five to six years. The pond covers about 3 hectares, and I focus on fish farming with an emphasis on environmental protection and maintaining cleanliness. I have a contract with an incubator that supplies fry of six species. When they reach maturity, their weight ranges from 500 grams to 3 kilograms. So far, I have not organized mass catch and sale — this is mainly for fishing enthusiasts who pay for the opportunity to fish with a rod and enjoy their leisure time,” he explains.

In winter, the pond freezes, forming ice that is 90 cm to 1 meter thick. In such conditions, we created an ice rink 30–60 meters long, where skating enthusiasts can relax.

Additionally, this year a road was laid to the hill near the pond to create the sledding track. We purchased about 10 sleds and are currently conducting testing. All safety measures are observed on the track. We hope that with the development of tourism, this place will become a year-round recreation area,” he added.

Rinat Ümötaliev is married, has two daughters and one adopted daughter with his wife, and he is also proud of two grandsons.
