In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, he noted that previously he would get about 35 kg of meat from one ordinary sheep, whereas now castrated Areshan rams can yield up to 80 kg.
Avazbek, born in 1991 in the village of Tunuk, is married and is the father of one child.
“My father worked in the road service during the Soviet era and then retired. We have always had our own farm, and we helped with animal husbandry from childhood, taking care of sheep, cows, and horses. We also kept Gissar rams. About 3-4 years ago, we were gifted a ram that belonged to the line of the famous Areshan ram Vovanich. After he joined our flock, the lambs began to be born larger, and I became interested in the Areshan breed. This year, I acquired the son of the famous ram Landras, named Las-Vegas. This is our first experience participating in an exhibition, where we took second place in height. The height of this ram at the withers is 101.5 cm. This participation further ignited my interest in breeding, and I plan to actively engage in selection,” he shared.
Avazbek also made a comparison between the meat weight of ordinary and Areshan sheep:
“The maximum meat weight that our best sheep produced was 35 kg, while Areshan lambs already reach 40 kg. A three-year-old castrated ram yielded 80 kg of meat. This confirms that one Areshan ram provides twice as much meat as an ordinary sheep.
Some may assume that when the Areshan breed becomes more widespread, prices will drop. However, elite breeding rams, on the contrary, are only becoming more expensive. Do the prices of breeding horses decrease over time? The same will happen with Areshans,” he concluded.
