Podkorytov was born on May 3, 1948, in Frunze and began his football training under the guidance of the famous children's coach Vladimir Korobchenko. In 1966, his career took a new turn when he received an invitation to the experimental USSR national team preparing for the Olympic Games in Mexico, where he played alongside stars like Evgeny Lovchev and Sergey Olshansky.
As a player, Boris Podkorytov defended the colors of "Lokomotiv" from Moscow and "Alga," becoming the captain of the latter.
After finishing his playing career, Podkorytov decided to become a coach. He took courses in Moscow and in 1980 became the head coach of Frunze's "Alga." His coaching career also included foreign clubs, including in Algeria, where he achieved significant success, leading one of the teams to the championship in 1988.
Throughout his career, he also worked with clubs in Kazakhstan, such as "Kainar," "Astana," and "Zhetysu," and was part of the coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national team.
Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, Podkorytov continued his career with the club "Dordoi-Dynamo," with which he achieved outstanding results. Under his leadership, the team became the national champion multiple times and won the Cup, as well as the AFC President's Cup in 2006 and 2007.
In 2006, he headed the national team of Kyrgyzstan, and in 2008, he became the general director of the "Dordoi" club. In 2011, his experience was utilized as a consultant coach for the national team.
Throughout his career, Boris Podkorytov was repeatedly awarded the title of Coach of the Year, earning a reputation as one of the most respected and decorated mentors in Kyrgyz football.
The Kyrgyz Football Union expresses its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Boris Podkorytov, as well as to all his friends and colleagues in the football community.
The funeral will take place on Friday, March 6.
