According to information from the National Statistical Office of Mongolia, the main contribution to growth came from the mining and quarrying sectors, which increased by 68% (₮1.8 trillion), as well as electricity and gas supply, which demonstrated a growth of 34.3% (₮95.3 billion).
Preliminary results for January show that the volume of mineral extraction and quarrying amounted to ₮4.4 trillion. This growth is attributed to a 2.2-fold increase (₮1.4 trillion) in the extraction of metallic ores and a 29.9% increase (₮396.4 billion) in the segment of coal and lignite.
In physical terms, the production of iron ore and copper concentrate, as well as the volumes of coal and iron ore, increased by 2.3 to 3.5 times compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the production volumes of unrefined gold, crude oil, fluorite, lignite, silver, and zinc concentrate decreased by 2.5% to 89.1%.
In the manufacturing sector, the physical volumes of production of key goods such as water, beverages, juices, metal casting, lime, cashmere knitwear, combed cashmere, and cement increased year-on-year by 1.8 to 4.2 times. However, the production of vodka, liquid milk, flour, pure alcohol, copper cathodes, cigarettes, and meat decreased by 1.5%, amounting to 60.4%.
According to preliminary data for January, the total sales volume in the industrial sector reached 8 trillion tugriks, which is ₮4.6 trillion (2.4 times) more than in the same period last year. The main growth was provided by the mining sector, where sales increased by ₮4.4 trillion (2.8 times).
In January, the volume of industrial product exports to foreign markets amounted to ₮6.4 trillion, of which ₮6.3 trillion came from the mining and quarrying sector.
Among the total volume of mining product exports, 26.5% was coal, 71.7% was metallic ores, and 0.9% was crude oil and other mineral products.
