In his address, published by the "Xinhua" agency, Xi Jinping noted that the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are "blood brothers," and that reunification corresponds to historical development.

Furthermore, he emphasized that China will consistently implement the principle of "One country, two systems," and will continue the integration of Hong Kong and Macau into the overall development of the country, which will ensure their long-term prosperity and stability.

Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Xiaogang, emphasized that Beijing is striving for peaceful reunification with Taiwan but reserves the right to take necessary measures if supporters of the island's independence cross the "red line."

China considers Taiwan to be its rebellious province and rejects any official contacts between the island and other countries, viewing them as a threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
