In an interview with the BBC, Zelensky noted that Vladimir Putin's actions are aimed at a protracted war between the USA, Israel, and Iran, which, in his opinion, will weaken Ukraine as American resources will be redistributed to other fronts.
The President of Ukraine also mentioned that Donald Trump, the President of the USA, does not show clear support for either side in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, seeking to avoid confrontation with Putin.
After a series of critical remarks from Trump towards the Prime Minister of the UK, Zelensky called for a meeting between them both to find common ground.
The conflict in the Middle East, which has been ongoing for three weeks, has affected the entire Persian Gulf region, where Iran is responding to attacks from the USA and Israel with strikes on neighboring countries.
Zelensky expressed his concerns, calling his feeling 'very bad' regarding the impact of this conflict on the war in Ukraine. He noted that peace negotiations are 'constantly being postponed due to the war in Iran'.
According to the President, the current situation is beneficial for Putin, as it leads to rising energy prices, creating additional problems for Ukraine and potentially leading to a missile shortage.
"For Putin, a protracted war in Iran is a plus," he emphasized. "It not only leads to rising energy prices but also depletes American stockpiles and reduces the production of air defense systems. This depletion of resources is also happening here [in Ukraine]."
Zelensky also noted that the shortage of Patriot missiles will 'definitely' become a reality, creating 'problems', and added that now the question is 'when all stockpiles in the Middle East will be exhausted'.
"America produces 60-65 missiles a month. This means that in a year we can receive about 700-800 missiles. On the first day of the war in the Middle East, 803 missiles were used," he explained.
Speaking about Trump's position on the war in Ukraine, Zelensky pointed out that the US President prefers to be a mediator rather than take any side in the conflict with the Russian invasion.
Zelensky believes that Trump 'wants to end this war', but also noted that his strategy involves close dialogue with Putin, which implies avoiding irritating him, as Putin does not wish to communicate with Europe.
The conflict sparked by US and Israeli strikes on Iran has led to a diplomatic scandal, with Trump criticizing his NATO allies, while Kir, as he stated, has taken no military action. Zelensky warned against a split among Western leaders.
In an interview with the BBC after talks with Kir, the President of Ukraine emphasized that, although he does not intend to tell Trump what to do, they should meet to 'renew relations'.
"I would very much like President Trump to meet with Starmer... so that they have a common position," he concluded.
Recently, Trump referred to Starmer as 'not Winston Churchill', adding that while he considers the UK Prime Minister a 'good man', he is 'disappointed' with his actions.
Kir responded by emphasizing that the UK will not be involved in larger armed conflicts, and Downing Street confirmed 'strong' relations between the USA and the UK.
On Tuesday, Kir welcomed Zelensky at Downing Street, which was part of his European tour.
Last week, the Ukrainian leader visited Paris and intends to go to Madrid this week. These visits occur against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, which overshadows Ukraine's ongoing struggle with the Russian invasion.
"I consider it extremely important to clearly state that the main focus should remain on Ukraine," Kir stated.
During his visit to London, Zelensky addressed members of Parliament, stating: "The regimes in Russia and Iran are brothers in hatred, and therefore they are brothers in arms. We want regimes based on hatred to never win, and we do not wish for such regimes to threaten Europe or our partners."
In the crowded Westminster committee room were Kir, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Defense Minister John Healy, and leaders of opposition parties.
