Buenos Aires has overtaken Moscow in cost of living

According to an analysis by RIA Novosti, based on open data, the Argentine capital Buenos Aires has surpassed Moscow in the cost of living index. This has occurred against the backdrop of persistent double-digit inflation in Argentina.

According to information provided by the online database Numbeo, the cost of living index in Moscow is 47.5, while in Buenos Aires it is 49.2.

However, the cost of living in Moscow, excluding rent, is 3.4% lower than in the Argentine capital, according to the portal.

Food prices in Moscow, according to Numbeo's estimates, are 12.5% lower compared to Buenos Aires, and purchasing power in the Russian capital is higher by 82.1%. Additionally, dining in restaurants in Moscow is 24.2% cheaper.

Nevertheless, in one category, Moscow falls behind Buenos Aires: the cost of renting housing in the Russian capital is 88.1% higher, according to the service's data.

According to the national statistical institute of Argentina, inflation in the country in November 2025 was 2.5% for the month, and over 11 months reached 27.9%. In 2024, inflation slowed down compared to 2023, but still remains at 117.8%.
