As a result of the attack, the tankers Delta Supreme and Delta Harmony, owned by Delta Tankers, as well as Freud (TMS) and Matilda (Thenamaris), were damaged. According to Thenamaris, their vessel, which was supposed to load oil from the Karachaganak field, was attacked by an unknown number of drones outside the KTK terminal, sustaining minor damage on deck but remaining afloat.

According to sources from Reuters, the attacked vessels were en route to the "Southern Ozerievka" terminal near Novorossiysk, which is the main loading point for 80% of Kazakhstan's oil exported to international markets.

As Bloomberg points out, these events could exacerbate the loading situation at the KTK terminals, which suspended oil transshipment for five days last week due to adverse weather conditions and only resumed operations on Tuesday. According to Reuters, KTK canceled at least 19 shipments scheduled for January, as its terminal operations are limited to only one of the three offshore mooring devices (OMD-1), while storms hinder the loading process.

One source reported that the average export volume of KTK from January 1 to 12 was about 500,000 barrels per day, whereas the initial plan was for 1.65 million barrels. As a result of supply issues through KTK, oil production in Kazakhstan decreased by 35% compared to December, amounting to 1.21 million barrels per day for the first twelve days of January.

In November 2025, after an attack by Ukrainian drone boats, the KTK terminal in Novorossiysk also halted oil shipments due to damage to OMD-2, which has yet to be repaired. OMD-3 is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance.
