According to information from the DW agency, EASA has issued a recommendation stating that airlines should avoid flights in Iranian airspace. This is due to rising tensions and potential military escalation from the United States.

In its statement, EASA emphasized that the risk of misidentification in the region has significantly increased, as Iranian air defense forces are on heightened alert.

Experts also noted that the use of various air defense systems and weapons, along with the unpredictable actions of Iranian authorities, pose a serious threat to civilian flights at any altitude.

Furthermore, the regulator warned of the possibility of Iranian retaliatory actions against potential U.S. incursions, which could lead to even greater risks for aviation in neighboring countries where U.S. military bases are located.

Earlier, information from the Al Hadath TV channel indicated that Iran had closed its airspace near the border with Iraq, raising speculation about possible U.S. military actions, according to the dpa agency.

The White House press secretary stated that only the president makes decisions regarding this situation, and information about plans is known only to a limited number of advisors.

Amid rising tensions, the Ukrainian embassy in Iran announced a temporary suspension of its operations, adding that information about the resumption of activities will be provided later.

Protests in Iran began in late December 2025 and initially concerned the economic situation, but soon participants began to raise political demands, including calls for the overthrow of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the human rights organization HRANA, at least 544 people have died during the protests, and more than 10,600 have been detained.
