Iran has closed its airspace to aircraft, Reuters reported a possible US attack

The military operation may begin within 24-48 hours

On Thursday morning, Iranian authorities announced the closure of the airspace over the country for all flights, except for those with special permits for international flights. This information was confirmed by data from the Flightradar24 service.

The German authorities had previously advised their airlines to avoid flights over Iran. Citizens of Poland, Italy, and Spain are advised to leave the country "by any available means." Additionally, the UK has suspended the operations of its embassy in Tehran and recalled staff due to ongoing unrest.

On January 14, Reuters, citing its sources, reported that the US may use military force against Iran within 24-48 hours. American media claim that the White House is considering various intervention options, including military strikes, cyberattacks, and the imposition of additional sanctions against Tehran. In response, Iran warned of possible strikes on American bases in the region.

It is worth noting that mass protests have been ongoing in Iran since December 28. The main reasons for discontent are the sharp deterioration of the economic situation and high inflation. Iranian authorities claim that extremist forces are participating in the unrest and assert external interference. According to human rights activists, the number of protesters killed has reached 2,403, including 12 minors and 147 law enforcement officers. There are also reports of 1,134 injured and 18,434 detained.

US President Donald Trump warned Iranian authorities of "harsh measures" in the event of executions of protesters. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has called for negotiations with the US. Meanwhile, a US Navy carrier strike group is heading to the Middle East from the South China Sea, as reported by NewsNation journalist Kelly Meyer, citing her sources.
