I have canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killings of protesters stop. Help is on the way. Let’s make Iran great again,” the U.S. president wrote on his social network Truth Social.
Trump also emphasized that he has halted all contacts with Iranian officials until the killings of protesters cease.
In response to these statements, Iran's permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council. He expressed the opinion that Trump's remarks threaten Iran's sovereignty and security, and pointed to the direct responsibility of the U.S. and Israel for the deaths of civilians resulting from their actions. Iran calls on the UN Security Council to condemn incitement to violence and threats from the U.S.
According to information from The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar have also urged the U.S. to refrain from military action against Iran.
As of the latest reports, protests have spread to 585 locations in 186 cities (31 provinces) of Iran, with the number of arrests exceeding tens of thousands.
