The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed how Kyrgyz citizens can leave Iran due to the suspension of flights.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has issued a statement warning its citizens against traveling to Iran and providing information on exit options for those already in the country.
According to the information, most international airlines have suspended or significantly reduced their flights to and from Iran, leading to frequent changes in flight schedules. In case air travel is not possible, Kyrgyz citizens may consider land exit options through neighboring countries," the ministry clarified.
Kyrgyz citizens can enter Armenia and Turkey without a visa.
However, for travel to Turkmenistan, it is necessary to contact the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkmenistan in advance for assistance in obtaining a visa and entry permit.
As of January 16, 2026, border crossing points at the Iran-Afghanistan and Iran-Iraq borders are open, so it is advisable to apply for a visa to enter these countries in advance at the respective diplomatic missions.
The ministry also recommends considering alternative routes for exit but notes that the land borders of Iran with Pakistan and Azerbaijan are currently closed.
Those in need of assistance for exiting Iran are advised to send the relevant information to the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Iran or to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, including:
- Full name and contact details;
- A photograph of the passport page with personal data;
- The intended border crossing point.
Kyrgyz citizens planning trips to Iran in the near future are strongly advised to postpone their visits until the situation stabilizes.
