The Death of a Kyrgyz Woman in Malta. The Issue of Body Repatriation is Being Addressed

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has published an official statement regarding the death of one of its citizens in Malta.

According to the press release, after receiving information about the tragedy from the Maltese authorities, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy began to interact with local agencies to organize the return of the body to the homeland. This process also includes the involvement of assistance from fellow citizens.

“At the moment, the diplomatic mission is actively addressing issues related to repatriation, providing consular support, and ensuring the completion of all necessary procedures while maintaining constant contact with the relatives of the deceased,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

It was previously reported that a 48-year-old woman, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, died as a result of an accident in St. George's Bay in Malta on Sunday around 12:40 PM. She was in the water with a 23-year-old compatriot, and both found themselves in a difficult situation while swimming. They were assisted in getting out of the water and received first aid. Later, medics and civil protection service personnel arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a medical facility. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the 48-year-old woman passed away, while the condition of the 23-year-old woman is assessed as stable.
