According to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kyrgyz Republic, the recent protests in the country, which initially had a peaceful nature, became subject to violence due to external interference. This conclusion was made in an official press release by the diplomats.

Diplomats emphasize that in accordance with Iran's internal legislation, peaceful assemblies are permitted and there are legal mechanisms for expressing protest sentiments and demands. However, recent actions aimed at addressing economic issues began to deviate from their original course.

The embassy highlights four key stages of the escalation of protests.

From December 28 to 31, peaceful protests took place in Iran, mainly focused on markets and among trade unions. In response to these actions, the government initiated a dialogue with entrepreneurs and trade unions, as a result of which some economic issues were included in the agenda and the protests subsided.

From January 1 to 7, the protests began to take on a more aggressive nature, although the use of weapons was not recorded. According to the Iranian side, security forces showed maximum restraint to avoid further violence.

From January 8 to 10, according to reports, armed terrorists infiltrated the ranks of the protesters, opening fire on police and civilians, seeking to provoke civilian casualties and foreign intervention. The embassy claims to have evidence of coordination of these actions from abroad, with the involvement of the USA and Israel. These events in Tehran are viewed as a continuation of the conflict with Israel and the United States that began in June 2025.

From January 10, the situation was stabilized, as reported in the press release. Numerous armed participants were detained, and the results of these detentions will be announced soon. Surveys show that over 80% of the population supports the cessation of violence, while more than 70% see foreign interference as the main cause of the events.

The press release also mentions significant destruction.

Reports indicate the arson of about 200 shops in various cities, an attack on 53 fire trucks, eight of which were completely disabled, as well as the burning of 180 ambulances, the destruction of 26 banks and 25 mosques in the capital. Additionally, attacks on government buildings and police stations were noted, along with the seizure of more than 1300 units of weapons from armed groups.

In conclusion, the embassy emphasizes that the right to peaceful protest is recognized worldwide; however, no country can tolerate disorder, arson, terrorist acts, and violence against citizens and law enforcement agencies.
