In response to recent comments, the border service of the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic refuted the opinions that citizens of Kazakhstan were not informed about the new rules for staying in Kyrgyzstan.

In the agency, it was noted that extensive informational work was carried out before the changes came into effect, involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the border service, and the Ministry of Digital Development. Information about the new rules began to be published in the spring of 2025 and continues to be actively disseminated.

In particular, on December 4, 2025, a briefing for media representatives was held at the "Ak-Zhol - Road" checkpoint, attended by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the population registration department. It was also mentioned that press releases on this topic were sent to the mass media in Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, on January 13, 2026, clarifications regarding the new rules were provided on the air of "Birinchi Radio." The border service also reported that informational materials are placed at the border crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, and videos are shown in the passport control halls. Border service employees individually inform citizens of Kazakhstan about the terms and conditions of their stay.

At the same time, the agency emphasized that all individuals traveling abroad are responsible for complying with the migration norms of the country they are heading to.

It was also pointed out that the new measures are a response to the restrictions imposed in Kazakhstan since September 1 for citizens of Kyrgyzstan and are aimed at adhering to the principle of reciprocity and international practice.

Earlier, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva expressed concern at a session of the Jogorku Kenesh regarding the problems faced by some citizens of Kazakhstan due to the new rules. She cited the example of a female teacher from Kazakhstan who cannot return to Kyrgyzstan after a trip to Almaty and risks losing her job.
