In response to recent critical statements from deputies, the border service of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan confirmed that citizens of Kazakhstan were properly informed about the introduction of new rules for staying in the country.

According to the agency, information campaigns were carried out through official websites, social networks, and mass media before the changes came into effect. The border service reported that information about the new rules began to be published in the spring-summer of 2025 and continues to be updated.

For example, on December 4, 2025, a briefing for journalists was held at the "Ak-Zhol - Road" checkpoint, where representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the population registration department were present. Press releases were also sent to Kazakhstani media.

Furthermore, on January 13, 2026, the rules for citizens of Kazakhstan were explained in detail on "Birinchi Radio." In addition, informational materials are placed at all checkpoints along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, videos are shown in passport control areas, and border service staff inform citizens about the duration and conditions of stay.

The border service also reminded that every person leaving the country bears personal responsibility for complying with the migration norms of the host country.

The agency noted that the new measures are a response to the restrictions imposed in Kazakhstan on September 1 regarding citizens of Kyrgyzstan and are aimed at upholding the principle of reciprocity and international practice.

Earlier, deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva addressed government agencies during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, requesting that they consider the problems faced by some Kazakhstani citizens due to the new rules. She spoke about the case of a Kazakhstani woman working as a teacher in Bishkek, who encountered difficulties returning after a trip to Almaty and risks losing her job.
