Due to the worsening situation in Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan urges its citizens not to travel to this country. The main factors for this decision are the suspension of international flights and restrictions on land borders.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of January 16, 2026, many airlines have changed their schedules or completely halted flights to and from Iran. If air travel is not possible, citizens are advised to consider alternative land routes through neighboring countries.
Entry into Armenia and Turkey for citizens of Kyrgyzstan is carried out without visa formalities. However, to cross the border into Turkmenistan, it is necessary to contact the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in advance to obtain permission and a transit visa.
Border crossing points on the Iranian border are open only for crossing with Afghanistan and Iraq, and for this, visas from the respective diplomatic missions are also required.
Currently, the land borders of Iran with Azerbaijan and Pakistan remain closed.
Citizens who require assistance with leaving Iran are recommended to contact the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Tehran or the Consular Department, providing the following information: full name, contact details, a photo of the passport page, and the intended border crossing location.
