Due to the deterioration of security in the country, the U.S. Department of State strongly advises its citizens to leave Venezuela immediately. The warning has been published on the embassy's website in Caracas.

The document emphasizes that the situation in the country is extremely unstable. With the resumption of international flights, Americans in Venezuela are advised to leave the country without delay. Before departing, U.S. citizens are advised to exercise heightened vigilance and closely monitor the situation around them.

The Department of State reports on the activities of armed groups establishing checkpoints and inspecting vehicles for connections to U.S. citizens. Americans traveling on the roads should be particularly cautious.

Additionally, the country continues to experience power outages and disruptions to other utilities.

Venezuela has the highest travel advisory level—Level 4 ("Do Not Travel"). This is due to serious threats to U.S. citizens, including the risk of arbitrary detention, torture, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, as well as a high level of crime and civil unrest.

In March 2019, the Department of State withdrew all diplomatic personnel from the embassy in Caracas and suspended its operations. Consular services, including emergency services, remain unavailable in Venezuela, and the U.S. government cannot provide assistance to its citizens in the country.
