Starting from September 1, 2025, new regulations regarding the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan will come into effect. This is reported by the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

These changes are based on the new provision on the procedure for the stay of foreign citizens, approved by government resolution No. 541 dated October 10, 2023.

Key points:

• Visa-free period — 90 days within 180.
Citizens of Kazakhstan will be able to stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 90 days within each 180-day period, starting from the date of their first entry.

• Counting the duration of stay.
All days of stay are summed up and do not reset upon repeated border crossings. The new period starts counting only after an uninterrupted absence from Kyrgyzstan for at least 90 calendar days.

• Registration.
Registration at the place of stay is not required during the first 30 days of stay. However, if a citizen stays longer, they must register.

• Responsibility for non-compliance with the rules.
Staying more than 90 days without registration may result in a restriction on subsequent entry into Kyrgyzstan for 90 days.

• Extension of the stay period.
Legal stay can be extended if the citizen has registration, a residence permit, a temporary residence permit, as well as statuses such as "Kairylman," "Meken-kart," "Resident-card," or other documents provided for by international agreements.

The Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic also emphasizes that similar measures are in effect in Kazakhstan for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
