
According to information from the IRGC, the detainees are accused of setting fire to mosques and Islamic educational institutions in the southern province of Hormozgan. Their actions also include the destruction of state and private property, disturbing public order, creating an atmosphere of fear, and attacking military facilities.
Protests in Tehran began in late December due to a sharp decline in the national currency and rising prices. Iranian authorities announced the suppression of the protests on January 21, after which property confiscations and the closure of businesses supporting the mass demonstrations began.
