As reported by Akorda, Kazakhstan has joined the Council of Peace without the need to make a voluntary contribution of $1 billion, as stated in the organization's charter. This was informed by Kazinform.

Akorda emphasized that the decision to join the Council of Peace is made solely based on the sovereign rights of the state.

“From the moment of joining the Council, the participation period is three years. The voluntary contribution of one billion US dollars mentioned in the Charter is not a mandatory condition for membership. It is the choice of each country. If such a contribution is made within the first year, it will allow for the extension of membership after the three-year term expires. Kazakhstan joined the Council without any financial costs, which fully complies with the norms of the Charter,” the press service clarified.

It is worth reminding that on January 16, US President Donald Trump announced the creation of a new international organization - the "Council of Peace." This structure was conceived as a mechanism for monitoring the implementation of agreements in the Gaza sector. In turn, the UN also supported this initiative. However, it soon became clear that Trump plans to extend his efforts to peacekeeping in other conflict regions.

On January 22, 19 countries signed the Charter of the Council of Peace.
