The Acting Minister of Health, Damirbek Osmonov, shared his approaches to addressing the personnel shortage in the medical field.

His candidacy for the position of minister was discussed at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.

He noted that attracting medical workers to work in remote areas is a serious problem, as many specialists prefer to stay in cities, prioritizing their comfort and family well-being.

Osmonov also emphasized that it is necessary to start addressing this issue at the training stage of future doctors, during their residency.

“Doctors who complete their residency become certified specialists. However, there is no payment for residency training, and many are even forced to pay for their education out of their own pockets. Therefore, it is important to provide residents with a decent salary and to send them to the regions for 1-2 years after they complete their training. This will help solve the problem of staff shortages,” Osmonov is convinced.
