At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, deputy Ulukbek Karybek uulu reported a case of money being extorted from a patient after surgery at the Osh regional hospital.

He cited the example of a woman's complaint, which was voiced with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Health. The patient recounted that on the first day after hospitalization, her mother paid 17,000 soms, and she was also asked for 2,000 soms for anesthesia and an additional 2,700 soms for extra services. "After the surgery, practically no one provided her with assistance when she was coming to from anesthesia, and there were also demands for money in the ward," the deputy noted, reading the text of the letter and urging the Ministry of Health to pay attention to this issue.

He emphasized the importance of protecting patients' rights and actively combating corruption in the medical field.

The First Deputy Minister of Health agreed that there are indeed isolated cases of violations among doctors, but added that the main goal of the agency is to fight corruption. As a measure to address this problem, it is planned to increase the salaries of medical workers, and this issue will be considered further.

The deputy also drew attention to maternity hospitals, where pregnant women and new mothers often face demands for monetary contributions.
