- Currently, no sharp fluctuations in food prices have been recorded. Muratbek Imankulov, Deputy Chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, shared this information on the radio.

According to Imankulov, price control for essential goods covers 16 categories. This list includes milk, bread, flour, meat, vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, and animal feed.

He emphasized that price monitoring has become more structured compared to last year.

The Deputy Chairman also commented on the situation with fuel prices. He noted that prices for gasoline, diesel, and gas have increased in the range of 10 to 12 soms.

Regarding bread and dairy products, Imankulov clarified that not all types of bakery products are included in the list of socially significant goods.

“Buns, pastries, and confectionery products are not included in the list. We only consider traditional bread — tandoor bread and flatbreads,” he explained.

In 2026, an expansion of the list of socially significant goods is planned, as noted by Imankulov.

“We are studying the proposals received and this year want to consider the possibility of adding other types of bread to the monitoring. No sharp price jumps for these goods have been observed either,” he added.

According to him, moderate price growth is compensated by social support measures.

“The government is simultaneously increasing pensions and salaries, aiming to maintain balance. It is important to avoid shortages of goods,” noted the Deputy Chairman of the service.

Imankulov also highlighted the situation with milk, noting that the antimonopoly service is actively cooperating with farmers in the Talas, Osh, Chui regions, and the Issyk-Kul region.

“We have set price benchmarks. A too high purchase price can lead to price increases at retail points, while a too low price can negatively affect farmers. Therefore, a balanced price has been established,” he explained.

Regarding the powers of the agency, Imankulov noted that the Antimonopoly Regulation Service is just one component of the state system.

“The state does not have the right to set prices for all goods and services everywhere, including cafes and restaurants,” he added.

Although the antimonopoly body cannot directly regulate prices in the service sector, it conducts metrological supervision. “We check the compliance of the weight of ready-made dishes with the declared standards — 250, 350, 400 grams, and also analyze the calculation of the products used,” Imankulov reported.

Based on the results of inspections, explanatory work is carried out, warnings are issued, and in extreme cases, fines are applied in accordance with the Code of Offenses of the Kyrgyz Republic.
