At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, held on January 26, 2026, Deputy Kamila Talieva raised the issue of the reasons for the rise in food prices in the country. She was interested in when the increase in prices for essential products such as meat, vegetable oil, and flour could be expected to stop.

The answer to this question was provided by the head of the Antimonopoly Service, Jenaly Orozbaev, who noted that the current legislation does not allow for price regulation in the market as a whole. He also added that the antimonopoly service can only control prices for 16 socially significant goods.

During the discussion, Deputy Talieva called for stricter price controls to ease the financial burden on ordinary citizens. This issue was raised in the context of the consideration of the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Pricing," which was initiated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and was at the stage of the second reading.
