According to Kilyazova, Suusamyr is an important pasture for regions such as Chui, Talas, Jalal-Abad, and Naryn.
“During the summer grazing season, farms from Sokuluk, Moscow, Jayil, and Panfilov districts, as well as from Talas and Jalal-Abad regions, including the Kochkor district of Naryn region, come here. The livestock population is very large, while the pastures for such a number of animals are simply insufficient,” she noted.
Kilyazova also emphasized the significance of the shrub Caragana for ecosystems, but added that its spread should be limited to pasture territories.
“Caragana should grow in places where it performs its natural function — strengthening slopes and riverbanks, preventing erosion. Pasture plants should prevail in pastures,” she believes.
The specialist reminded that previously, the fight against Caragana in pastures was conducted systematically and in stages.
“In the past, residents would independently cut down Caragana, use it for heating, and prepare brooms. During the Soviet era, large areas of pastures were cultivated, and rotation of areas was practiced, which ensured free access for livestock to the grassy cover,” she explained.
Kilyazova added that complete removal of Caragana is impossible due to its powerful root system and its ability to reproduce both by seeds and roots.
“Caragana cannot be completely destroyed; it can only be suppressed. If we reduce its influence through mechanical or other methods, access to grasses opens up, grazing begins, and animals themselves control its growth,” she clarified.
Additionally, Kilyazova noted that pastures should be used for their intended purpose.
