In Kyrgyzstan, there are plans to increase the areas for planting a second crop. This information was announced on the radio by the head of the department for implementing decisions in crop production and horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Turatbek Idrisov.

He noted that practice has already confirmed the effectiveness of obtaining a second harvest.

Idrisov specified that winter wheat, sown in the fall, is harvested by the end of May or early July. The full harvest is completed in July, both in the southern regions and in the Chui region. After harvesting the wheat, farmers plant a second crop in the same fields.

In particular, farmers in the Chui region plant beets, cabbage, and corn for silage after harvesting the wheat. These crops manage to yield a harvest by autumn, and a second harvest takes place during September-October.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, last year more than 5,500 hectares were sown for the second harvest. This year, there are plans to increase these areas. Previously, sowing in the Chui region was done on a small scale, but last year it reached 7-8 thousand hectares.

The main problem remains the issue of providing irrigation water. With sufficient water resources, the results of obtaining a second harvest are positive.
