- On the air of the radio, former Minister of Transport Jamshitbek Kalilov expressed concern that the road infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan does not meet current requirements for axle load and does not comply with the standards adopted in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
According to him, when joining the EAEU, a decision was made to align national standards with the common norms regarding the axle load of vehicles.
Kalilov reminded that 15 years ago, no one expected that heavy transport weighing 50–60 tons would move so actively on Kyrgyz roads. While new roads in the country are designed for an axle load of 11.5 tons, in Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia, this figure has already reached 13 tons.
“The norm of 11.5 tons is not a final figure. It is necessary to immediately start transitioning to 13 tons, otherwise this could create serious problems in the future,” the former minister noted.

He also emphasized that even alternative and reconstructed roads in Kyrgyzstan continue to be designed with parameters of 11.5 tons, as such norms were established in previously signed agreements.
