Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan Discussed Strengthening Trade and Economic Cooperation

- At the meeting held on January 20 in Ashgabat, Mederbek Tumanov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, held talks with Babaniyaz Yalakov, his colleague from Turkmenistan. The press service of the Ministry of Economy reported on the progress of the discussions.

Participants in the meeting confirmed their intentions to continue implementing previously reached agreements. The main focus was on the implementation of the Protocol of the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as increasing the volume of mutual trade and developing transport and logistics connections.

As a result of the negotiations, specific steps were outlined to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including coordinating actions on the platforms of international organizations.

For reference: UN SPECA is a program aimed at developing regional cooperation and sustainable economic development in Central Asian countries, covering areas such as trade, digitalization, innovation, transport, and resource management.
